On January 24, 2013, I received a call to serve as a full-time missionary in the AUSTRALIA, SYDNEY mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I report to the Provo MTC on June 5. So much led up to my decision to serve, but the desire probably started at about age six when my Aunt Suzy was called to serve in the Washington D.C. South mission. She was my idol and I wanted to be just like her. It seems fitting that I made a solid decision to serve while visiting her family last Spring in Virginia (where she coincidentally lives in her mission area)! Because I was "ready" to serve last year at age 19, President Monson's October 2012 announcement that women could now serve at age 19 felt like it was a miracle directed at me. I've been overwhelmed and humbled by the number of my sisters who have quickly, confidently and faithfully made the decision to serve the Lord through proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. For me, "where much is given, much is required" and I strongly felt that to give a short 18 months of my life after all that God has given me (EVERYTHING) was the least I could do. How could I not share what I feel and know? Some say it's a sacrifice, but really, it's an honor and a blessing. I have been told it will be hard work, but armed with desire, humility, the Scriptures, Preach My Gospel, some comfortable shoes and a little bit of spunk, I think I can do this! Honestly, I can't imagine NOT serving. I honor my teachers, friends and family for not only setting a great example, but for helping foster and provide the tools and guidance I need for this experience. I am so blessed and I can't wait to get to Aussie land and share the Good News! G-Day Mates!
